VPN Server

Manage inbound VPN servers and the user accounts shared across them.

Overview

The VPN Server tab manages the inbound side of VPN on this router: the servers listening for connections, and the user accounts that can dial in. A stat strip at the top counts active tunnels, servers, clients and protocols, and the whole page refreshes every five seconds.

Below the strip are two sections. VPN Servers lists what is listening; VPN Users lists credentials, which are shared across all servers rather than tied to one.

Before you start

  • A router set up through Easy Config in Dual-Link mode with the VPN Server step enabled already has one OpenVPN server and one user.
  • Deleting a server also removes what belongs to it, and for OpenVPN that means its users, IP pool, profile and certificates; for WireGuard, its peers and IP address.

Steps

  1. Open the VPN Server tab.
  2. To add a server, press Add server on the VPN Servers section and fill in the dialog.
  3. Click a server row to open its details, or use the row’s edit button, which opens a WireGuard server opens its interface editor.
  4. To add an account, press Add user on the VPN Users section.
  5. Use the search boxes to filter either list, and the pagination controls to page through them.
  6. To delete, press the row’s delete button and confirm in the Delete VPN server or Delete VPN user dialog.

Troubleshooting

“Failed to load VPN”. The panel could not read servers, users or clients off the router. Check the router is reachable and the credentials are valid.

Add and delete buttons are disabled. The session has no credentials for this router. Reconnect from the Routers list.
