Easy Config wizard
The five-step wizard that configures a fresh router through mode, WAN, IP-Mask, WiFi and VPN server, then applies it in one batch.
Overview
Easy Config is the guided setup that turns a freshly added MikroTik into a working router. It walks through five steps called Choose, WAN, IP-Mask, WiFi and VPN Server, collecting everything it needs, and then applies the whole configuration to the router in a single batch while a progress dialog tracks it.
On a router the panel has never configured, the wizard is not optional: opening any other section redirects you here, and the section tab bar stays hidden until the wizard reports 100%. You can also come back to it later from Diagnostics → Reset and Reconfigure.
Before you start
- The router has been added and you are connected to it. See Adding a router.
- You know which physical port each uplink is wired to.
- If you plan to use the IP-Mask step, have the WireGuard config file or the L2TP server address and credentials to hand.
- Applying rewrites the router’s addressing, so expect the connection to drop briefly partway through. Read the emergency access note in Applying the configuration before you start.
Steps
- Choose a setup mode, which is Dual-Link or Starlink-Only. This decides which later steps you see.
- Pick the WAN interfaces for each uplink.
- Configure the IP-Mask VPN client that hides the Starlink IP.
- Set up WiFi, giving a network name and password.
- Set up the VPN server, if you want devices to be able to dial back in. This step is skipped in Starlink-Only mode.
- Press Apply on the last step and watch the progress dialog. See Applying the configuration.

Next moves forward and is blocked with an explanation if the current step is incomplete. Back returns to the previous step. On the last step the primary button becomes Apply.
Troubleshooting
Every section redirects back to the wizard. That router has not completed Easy Config yet. Finish the wizard, or check that the panel can read the wizard status from the router, so a failing status check is treated as “not configured”.
“Missing router credentials.” The session lost the credentials for this router. Go back to the Routers list and reconnect.
