Adding a router
Put a MikroTik device on your router list, either by scanning the subnet or by typing its address.
Overview
Add router is the screen that puts a device on your router list. It has two modes that share the same result: Scan network, which probes a subnet for MikroTik devices and lets you pick one from a table, and Add manually, where you type the address yourself. The header buttons swap between them at any point.
Whichever mode you use, the panel checks that the address answers, checks that it looks like a MikroTik device, tests the credentials, and only then saves the router and applies a default base configuration.
Before you start
- The router is powered on and reachable from wherever the panel runs.
- You know a RouterOS username and password with enough rights to configure the device.
- For scanning, you know which subnet the router sits on, though the field defaults
to
192.168.10.0/24.
Steps
- From the Routers page, click the New Router tile. That opens the screen in scan mode.
- Choose your route:
- Stay in scan mode and pick a row from the results. See Scan or enter a target.
- Or press Add manually and fill in the router details form.
- Enter the credentials when prompted. See Credentials.
- Press Connect. The panel verifies the host, tests the login, saves the router, and applies its default base configuration, which raises a “Default configuration applied” toast confirms it.
- You land on the router. If it has never been configured through the panel, the Easy Config wizard opens automatically.

Troubleshooting
“Router already added”. A router with that address is on your list. The dialog offers Open router to jump straight to it.
“… is not reachable”. The address did not answer. Check the IP, the cabling and any firewall between the panel and the router.
“… does not appear to be a MikroTik device”. The host answered but did not identify as MikroTik. Check the address.
“Invalid username or password”. The credentials were rejected by RouterOS.
