Overview
Overview is the first tab of a router’s dashboard and the page you land on after the wizard finishes. It is a live status board: a banner with the router’s name, model, address and uptime plus a diagram of its physical ports; a traffic chart for whichever interface you select; resource gauges; and cards summarising DHCP leases, uplink addresses and connected VPN clients.
Most of it refreshes on its own, with the dynamic figures updating every three seconds and the traffic graph every ten, so you can leave the tab open and watch.
Before you start
- The router is added and the session holds valid credentials.
- Traffic history is collected by RouterOS per interface. A brand-new interface has nothing to plot yet.
Steps
- Open a router from the Routers list. Overview is the default tab.
- To rename the router, press the pencil button beside its name, type a new name, and press Save. This changes the router’s RouterOS system identity, not just the label in your list.
- To watch a different link, pick an interface from the dropdown on the Network Traffic card. It defaults to the interface tagged as the foreign uplink.
- Use the View buttons on the network cards to jump to the LAN or VPN Server tabs.
- To reboot or shut the router down, use the power controls on the port diagram and confirm in the dialog.

Troubleshooting
“No traffic data collected for this interface yet”. RouterOS has not recorded graph data for that interface. Pick another one, or wait.
The page sits on skeleton placeholders. The first system overview call has not come back. Check the router is reachable and that the session credentials are still valid.
“Reboot initiated” and then the panel goes back to the Routers list. That is expected, because the panel returns home while the router restarts.
