Generate a downloadable diagnostic report, control anonymous error reporting, and reset the router back to the wizard.

Overview

Diagnostics does three separate jobs. The big card at the top runs a diagnostic sweep of the router and produces a report file you can download or hand to support. A timeline shows which of the nine checks it is on. Below that, Error Reports switches the panel’s anonymous crash reporting on and off for this browser. Reset Configuration wipes the router’s setup and sends you back through the Easy Config wizard.

The reset is the destructive one. Everything currently configured on the router goes, and there is no undo.

Before you start

  • The session needs valid credentials, because the Start button stays disabled without them.
  • A reset takes the router back to an unconfigured state, so plan for the downtime.

Steps

Running a report

  1. Press Start. The timeline advances through the checks.
  2. When it finishes, a file tile appears with the report name and the time it was generated.
  3. Press Download to save it.
  4. Press Run again to produce a fresh report.
  5. Press Talk to support to jump to the Help tab with the report in hand.

Error reporting

  1. Find the Error Reports card.
  2. Use the Send error reports switch to turn reporting on or off. The setting is per browser.

Resetting the router

  1. Press Reset and Reconfigure.
  2. Read the confirmation dialog, then confirm.
  3. The Easy Config wizard opens from the beginning.

What an error report contains

Reports carry the error, a stack trace, the app version, and your browser and OS name. They never include the router address, credentials, configuration, request or response bodies, console output, or any user identity, and every IPv4 and IPv6 address is replaced with [ip] before the report leaves the browser. The report is sent by your browser, not by the router, and only from production builds.

Troubleshooting

The Start button is disabled. The session has no credentials for this router, or a run is already in progress. Reconnect from the Routers list.

“Failed to download report”. The report was generated but could not be fetched. Run it again.

The reset dialog appeared by accident. Press cancel. Nothing happens until you confirm.
