Domestic WAN

Point the local-ISP link at a physical interface on the router.

Overview

The screen is titled Domestic Network Connection, described as “Configure your domestic network connection”. It is the same screen as Foreign WAN, aimed at the other link: the one from your local ISP. You choose an interface type, then the interface, then the settings that type needs.

The domestic link is what makes the VPN Server and Network Tunnels steps available later, because those services need to be reachable over the local internet rather than through the foreign link.

In Advanced Mode you can add several domestic links, and the panel is headed Domestic WAN Links with an Add Domestic Link button and the note “Create your first domestic WAN connection. You can add multiple links for load balancing and failover.”

Before you start

  • Know which physical port the domestic link is plugged into.
  • Have PPPoE credentials ready if your ISP uses PPPoE, or the static addressing details if the link is statically addressed.
  • Ports already taken by the foreign link or a trunk are not offered here.

Steps

  1. Under Interface Type, pick Ethernet, Wireless, SFP or LTE.
  2. Under Select Domestic Interface, pick the specific interface.
  3. Fill in the settings for that type.
  4. In Advanced Mode, use Add Domestic Link to add further links, then set the strategy on LoadBalance & Failover.

SFP An SFP / SFP+ cage, on models that have one
LTE The built-in LTE modem; you supply the APN (Access Point Name)
