Choosing where to put the dish
Most installations that disappoint were decided on the roof, in about a minute, before anything was bolted down.

A dish with a clear view of the sky and an awkward cable run beats a tidy install under a tree. Obstruction costs you packets every few minutes; cable routing costs you an afternoon once.
Read the sky before the roof
Walk the site with the obstruction check and watch where it complains. Branches that are thin now will not be thin in a season.
Then read the cable
Plan the entry point before you mount anything. A run that has to cross a window later is a run that gets crushed later.
The compromise that usually works
Higher and further from the building beats lower and convenient, right up to the point where nobody can safely reach it to clear snow.
