# Server

> The one screen that controls the machine and the Xray process running on it.

## Overview

**Server** is the operations screen for the host and the Xray-core process the
panel supervises. Nasnet Linux is single-server by design, so the panel and the
proxy core live on the same machine, there is no agent to install and no remote
nodes, and `/nodes` simply redirects here. Everything about the running core
hangs off this page: its network configuration, its accounts, its logs, and a
terminal on the host itself.

## Before you start

- The status badge next to the server name reads **Online** or **Offline**. Most
  tabs need the core to be running before they show anything useful.
- The panel starts Xray as a child process and keeps it alive with a
  restart-on-crash watchdog, so a brief Offline followed by Online usually means
  the watchdog did its job. Repeated flapping is a crash loop, covered in
  [Alerts](/en/guides/nasnet-linux/alerts/).

## Steps

1. Open **Server** from the sidebar.
2. Start on the **Overview** tab for live stats and health.
3. Move to **Network** to add and edit inbounds, outbounds and routing, covered in
   [Inbounds and protocols](/en/guides/nasnet-linux/server/inbounds/).
4. Use **Restart Xray** in the header when you need the core to come back
   cleanly.
5. Use **Geofiles** in the header (or **Update Geofiles** in the mobile menu) to
   refresh the geoip and geosite data files that routing rules match against.
   This requires the server to be online.
6. **Refresh** re-pulls stats without reloading the page.

The panel talks to the core over Xray's local gRPC API to read stats and manage
proxy users, and compiles the configuration you build here into the core's
config in-process.

## Troubleshooting

**The badge says Offline but the panel itself is fine.** The panel process and
the Xray process are separate; the panel stays up and reports the core as down.
Check the **Logs** tab for the crash reason before restarting.
