# Extra Config

## Overview

**Extra Config** is the housekeeping step: everything that is not routing. The
in-app help describes it as *"advanced features including gaming optimization,
DDNS, system maintenance, and other professional-grade networking features."*

The whole step is **Advanced Mode only**. In Easy Mode it never appears, and the
wizard silently applies a set of defaults in its place, covering a timezone, a
self-signed and a Let's Encrypt certificate, three NTP servers, graphing turned
on, and RouterOS services restricted to local access with Winbox left enabled.

## Before you start

- If you plan to change service ports, have somewhere safe to write them down.
  The screen warns about this in strong terms, and it only warns once.
- DDNS needs an account with a supported provider.

## Steps

1. **Identity.** Name the router and decide about RoMON.
2. **Services.** Which RouterOS management services are reachable, and on which
   ports.
3. **Reboot & Update.** Timezone, scheduled reboots, updates and IP list
   refreshes.
4. **Useful Services.** Certificates, NTP, graphing, DDNS, UPnP and NAT-PMP.
5. **Game.** Per-game port forwarding and routing.
